International Migrants Day; a recap of the Global Diaspora Week 2022



It has indeed been a remarkable week at the just concluded Global Diaspora Week which had in attendance, various Diaspora Organizations’ leaders who shared their valuable contributions on the 7 activities discussed- Coordination, Academy, Expo, Fair, Forum, Festival and Awards.


The Continental Days discussions, summarized at the Global Diaspora Assembly highlighted the challenges, needs and recommendations of Diaspora Organizations as it pertains to the 7 activities. These include but not limited to access to information through Coordination, capacity building through Academy, recognition of the work done by diasporas through Awards, creation of opportunities for diaspora-owned businesses through Fair, transnationalism and networking through Festival and the Forum serving as a platform for discussion on different topics of interest to diasporas.


We wish to extend our gratitude to Ms. Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General, IOM UN-Migration for her support and inspiring words at the Assembly.
